Rosalie’s Poem: The Voyage

Rosalie’s Poem: The Voyage

Everyday we are inspired by the stories, voices, strength, and resiliency of the clients we walk alongside and the survivors who feel called to make a difference and eagerly help pave a new, different path for others who may be experiencing abuse in a marriage or relationship by sharing their knowledge and experience.

This poem was written and shared by ‘Rosalie’, a survivor of domestic abuse staying in Safe Harbor’s Greenville emergency safe shelter.

THE VOYAGE

STRANDED ON A JOURNEY

NO CHOICE, I MUST TAKE

NOW YIELDED IN SHAME

FROM MISTAKES THAT I MAKE

WHAT IS MY DESTINY

WHERE CAN IT BE

IS IT SAFE IN A BOTTLE

LEFT DRIFTING TO ME?

STORMS IN THE HORIZON

EACH WAVE AT MY FEET

MY ANCHOR IS CAUGHT

BY THE MURK IN THE DEEP

THUNDEROUS CLOUDS

IMMERSED IN THE SKY

LOST IN THE TWILIGHT

DESTINED TO DIE

AIMLESSLY DRIFTING

NO ESCAPE FROM THE NIGHT

EACH CRASHING WAVE

THIS VESSEL CAN’T FIGHT

CAN’T LET THIS OCEAN CONSUME ME

MUST FIND COURAGE AND STRENGTH

THIS SHIP WILL SURVIVE

TO A HARBOR THAT’S SAFE

SAILS LIFTED HIGH

CARESSED BY THE WIND

THE BREEZE GENTLY GUIDES ME

NEW PASSAGE, MY FRIEND

RESCUED, REDEEMED

DELIVERED AT SEA

NOW THE VOYAGE CONTINUES

DESTINED BY ME
