Safe Harbor Gives Thanks To Seneca Restaurants

Safe Harbor Gives Thanks to Seneca Restaurants

In August of 2014, the doors of Safe Harbor’s Oconee County 16-bed emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children opened its doors due to the generous support of community members, churches, businesses and groups. Since its opening, Safe Harbor’s Oconee Shelter has provided safe shelter to 275 women and 218 children (493 total), totaling 15,649 bed nights.

From 2014 and continuing today, Safe Harbor’s Oconee Shelter has also enjoyed continuous support from local restaurants, offering a “Chef’s Night Off” by providing dinner for all shelter residents on a monthly basis. Participating restaurants who provide meals to Safe Harbor include:

  •             Domino’s Pizza (926 by Pass 123, Seneca, SC 29678)
  •             Wendy’s (965 Hwy 123 Bypass, Seneca, SC 29678)
  •             Zaxby’s (1642 Sandifer Blvd, Seneca, SC 29678)
  •             Subway (105 US-123, Seneca, SC 29678)
  •             Seneca Family Restaurant (515 By Pass 123, Seneca, SC 29678)

Safe Harbor’s “Chef’s Night Off” was originally organized by Safe Harbor volunteer, Jane Polk, and is supported by additional Safe Harbor volunteers who pick up meals from contributing restaurants to bring them to the Oconee Shelter for residents to enjoy. The staff and residents of Safe Harbor are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of these local restaurants.

“Our families really enjoy Chef’s Night Off,” says Brandi Davis, Safe Harbor’s House Manager at the Oconee Shelter. “We are so very appreciative to all the restaurants in our community that so graciously donate to us each month.”
