I didn’t know that I was being abused because my definition of abuse looked different.
Despite the warning signs I learned to see as a child, the cycle was not broken by me.
While sheer numbers cannot capture the beating heart of our work, it does illustrate the general volume of victims served by Safe Harbor and their steps toward healing from the violence and trauma.
I realized I wasn’t alone when I began to encounter other women like me who were experiencing relationship abuse in their homes and elsewhere.
